Question 1

Do I need the design worked out before I contact you?

Accepted Answer

No — most people arrive with a rough idea and a few photographs, and that is plenty to start from. Design and material selection are part of what we do: we measure, talk through how you actually use the kitchen, and work the layout out with you. Coming in with nothing decided is normal, and it is usually cheaper than arriving committed to a plan that turns out not to suit the space.

Question 2

Do you do cabinet refacing or countertops on their own?

Accepted Answer

Refacing, yes — as its own service. Repainting, vinyl wrapping and made-to-measure replacement doors start at $5,000, with the doors built in our own Woodbridge factory; see our kitchen refacing page. Countertops on their own, no: we only fabricate counters and backsplash as part of a kitchen project, and a dedicated stone shop will beat us on a standalone swap.

Question 3

Why won’t other contractors give me a price?

Accepted Answer

Because a kitchen can genuinely range from twenty thousand to over a hundred, and a wrong number early costs them the job either way. We’d rather show you the range up front so you can decide whether it’s worth your time to have anyone come out.

Question 4

How long does a kitchen take?

Accepted Answer

Cabinets take two to four weeks to build, depending on the scope and the materials you choose — most of the waiting happens before anyone arrives at the house. On site, demolition through to cabinets, plumbing, electrical and countertops installed runs one to two weeks. If the job goes beyond the kitchen, allow three to four. Moving plumbing or removing a wall adds time for permits and inspection.

Question 5

Do I need a permit?

Accepted Answer

Not for a like-for-like replacement. You will for structural changes, moving plumbing stacks, or new electrical circuits. Where one is needed we draw it, file it and meet the inspector ourselves rather than leaving it to you — the permit fee itself is charged on top, and we tell you the number before the work starts, not after.

Question 6

Can I live in the house during the renovation?

Accepted Answer

Most people do. You’ll be without a kitchen sink and stove for the bulk of it, so plan for a temporary setup elsewhere in the house. We dust-seal the work area and clean up at the end of each day.

Question 7

What’s included in the price?

Accepted Answer

Cabinetry and hardware, countertop supply and installation, delivery, installation labour, plumbing reconnection, and electrical work including the ESA inspection. Appliances are not included, and permits are extra only where structural work is involved.

Question 8

What if I only want cabinets, or only countertops?

Accepted Answer

New cabinets and countertops together is a job we take on — that is a kitchen renovation, whether or not the layout changes. Either one on its own is not: we don’t fit countertops onto existing cabinets, and we don’t reface or re-door boxes we didn’t build. If you’re not sure which side of that your project falls on, call us and we’ll tell you in a minute rather than sending someone out.

Question 9

Where are your cabinets made?

Accepted Answer

In our own production facility in Woodbridge, about half an hour from the Mississauga showroom. We manufacture the cabinetry we install — no importer, no wholesaler in between. That means factory-direct pricing, cabinets built to your measurements rather than a catalogue size chart, and a warranty backed by the company that actually made them.

Question 10

Can I finance my renovation?

Accepted Answer

Yes — financing is available, so you can spread the cost rather than paying everything up front. Ask Paul about the options when you talk; he’ll walk you through what makes sense for your budget.

Question 11

Is the in-home measure really free?

Accepted Answer

Yes. No fee, no deposit, no obligation to proceed. If the numbers don’t work for you, that’s a perfectly good outcome and we’ll tell you so.
