Small galley kitchens with budget-tier doors and laminate counters sit at the bottom of that range; large open-concept kitchens with premium cabinetry, quartz waterfall islands and a changed layout sit at the top. A mid-range kitchen of about 35 linear feet of cabinetry usually comes in around the mid-$50,000s all in.

What drives the cost of a kitchen renovation?

Four things dominate: the size of the kitchen measured in linear feet of cabinetry, the door finish you choose, whether the layout changes, and your countertop choice. Moving the sink to a different wall is the single biggest swing, because running drain across floor joists rather than along them is several times the work.

Cabinets are typically four to six weeks from order. Once materials arrive, most kitchens run two to three weeks on site. Moving plumbing or removing a wall adds time for permits and inspection.

Not for a like-for-like replacement. You will for structural changes, moving plumbing stacks, or new electrical circuits. An ESA inspection is required whenever the electrical is modified, which covers almost every kitchen renovation.
