A powder room or a tub-to-shower conversion is about two, a four-piece or an accessible build about seven. Whatever the room turns out to need, we finish within 7 business days of starting, and that is in writing — the on-time guarantee, not a scheduling estimate.

What adds days to a bathroom renovation?

Demolition, mostly — it is the one day nobody can plan to the hour, because nobody knows what the last renovation left behind: mould behind the tile, a second floor laid over the first, plaster walls instead of drywall, or an old cast-iron tub that has to be broken up to get it out of the room. A layout change adds time as well, and custom shower glass adds about a week — measured after the tile is on, then made, then installed, after the room itself is finished and in use. That is why the completion promise is seven business days rather than five: the margin is for what demolition finds.

What does a bathroom renovation cost?

It depends on the room more than anything else: its size, how much of it is tiled, and whether the toilet, tub or vanity moves to a different wall — moving the drain is far more expensive than any finish you could choose. Demolition, waterproofing, tiling, plumbing and electrical work including the ESA inspection, the shower glass, and supply and installation of the vanity and fixtures you choose. Permits are extra only where one is required, and we tell you that number before the work starts.

Do you do accessible or barrier-free bathrooms?

Yes, and it is a distinct build rather than a few accessories added at the end. Level-entry showers, blocking in the walls so grab bars are anchored into framing rather than tile, wider door openings, and room to turn around. It is one of the four kinds of bathroom our fit check asks about, and it usually takes about seven days on site.

Can we live at home during the renovation?

Yes — the work stays sealed inside the one room, and we clean up at the end of each day. The real planning question is which bathroom it is: if it is your only full bathroom, plan around the days it is out of use — about two for a powder room or tub-to-shower conversion, five for a standard three-piece, seven for a large or accessible build.

Where do the vanities and fixtures come from?

From the catalogue of models we supply and install ourselves — you choose them at the Mississauga showroom, where the displays are full size rather than on a screen. The installation is our own crews, and it is covered by the same 5-year warranty on labour and materials as the rest of the job.

Will I need a permit?

Accepted Answer

Replacing fixtures where they already are generally does not need a building permit. Moving a plumbing stack, structural changes and new electrical circuits do. Separately from any permit, electrical work in a bathroom requires an ESA inspection, and new receptacles need GFCI protection. We handle the applications and the scheduling either way.

Do you re-grout, reseal or fix a leak?

Accepted Answer

No — not on their own. All of it is included when we rebuild a bathroom, but we do not take on re-grouting, re-caulking, single-fixture swaps, tub reglazing or liners, or standalone repairs. A tiler or a plumber will do those sooner and for far less than we could. We would rather tell you that now than after a visit.

Is custom shower glass worth it?

Usually not. A custom frameless enclosure is the add-on that moves a bathroom quote most, and a sliding glass door does the same job for about 70% less. Ask for the sliding door in the quote first; if you still want the frameless look after seeing the difference, it is your bathroom. Custom glass also adds about a week to the schedule, because it is measured after the tile is on and then made to size.

What do people wish they had spent on?

Storage. An LED mirror medicine cabinet is an expensive line on the quote and the one people are gladdest they paid for, because a family bathroom — especially with kids — never has enough places to put things. A tiled niche in the shower does the same job for the bottles. Both go in while the wall is open, so they are decided at the measure rather than after.

What do you find behind the old tile?

Usually just the subfloor panels, which is what we hope for. But under a lot of GTA bathrooms there is a history: a layer of vinyl, a lay-on rubber floor, an older tile floor, even hardwood, each laid over the last. Nobody knows until the tile is off, which is why the quote carries an allowance for it and why demolition is the one day of the five we cannot promise to the hour.

Are heated floors worth it?

For the right household, always. Heat under the tile makes the room more comfortable and, less obviously, safer and drier: spilled water dries faster, so there is less to slip on, and a warm floor is easier on anyone with arthritis than a cold one every morning. It goes in under the tile, so it is decided at the measure rather than added later.

Freestanding tub or shower?

Both, in a four-piece — about 80% of our clients choose a freestanding soaker tub alongside the shower, and the tub is what turns a bathroom into somewhere you go to relax. The shower is never negotiable; it is how a household actually gets clean. In a three-piece there is a third option: a built-in tub enclosed with glass doors, which showers like a shower and still lets you lie down and soak.

What fails first in a cheap bathroom?

The waterproofing, and it fails where you cannot see it. A shower with an inadequate membrane leaks into the wall or the floor below and shows up years later as a stain on a ceiling — thousands in damage — or as mould you have been breathing for years. A lot of the bathrooms we demolish have mould on the drywall or the framing from exactly that. Ours are built to Schluter standards and tested before a single tile goes on.

Is there anything you will not build?

Very little — thirty years of bathrooms is thirty years of unusual rooms, and each one is different. What we push back on is a design that cannot be built safely or to code, and lately that means AI-generated bathroom pictures: an LED strip along the baseboard looks beautiful in the render and is an electrical hazard in a wet room that the ESA inspection may fail. We will say so at the measure.

It is a showroom credit, not a discount: it has no cash value and can only be applied at our Mississauga showroom to upgrade finishes, vanities, tiles and other showroom materials on a bathroom renovation booked with us. We will confirm the amount in writing with your quote.

Yes. No fee, no deposit, no obligation to proceed. It is also the visit where we find out what is actually behind the tile and whether the layout you want works without moving the drain — so it is worth having even if you end up going elsewhere.
